AMERICAN ELECTIONS IN OUR SCHOOL

About two weeks before the real American elections, we sort of 'played' elections in our school (and about 20 more schools in Croatia).

Mr.Michael from CAS (which is short for Croatian American Society) sent us some short video films about the election system in the USA. All students in grades 5 to 8 watched the films and learned that two biggest parties are the Republicans and the Democrats, who their candidates are, how they get votes from people in every one of 52 American states and what electoral votes are. Then we had election day: we got ballots with two main candidates names, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton. The students voted by circling the name of the candidate on the ballots. Then they put the ballots in the box. Later, the comitee counted the votes. Hillary Clinton won with 278 votes and Donald Trump lost with 67 votes. We liked this project. It was a lot of fun!
